Today Gourmet Foods of NC Uncooked Red Argentinian Shrimp Sweet and robust, our Argentinian Red Shrimp offer a texture and taste that is more like sweet, succulent lobster. Big and beautiful, with a natural red color... they're a lean and low-fat shrimp we know you'll love. 16/20 peeled and deveined shrimp from deep, cold Patagonian waters in South America near Antarctica. These shrimp are very tender and flavorful with excellent texture. They are chemical-free with no added salt or brine. They cook 30% to 50% faster than Black Tiger Shrimp. Our shrimp are not just delicious; they're also sustainably sourced. 100% wild-caught in the ice-cold, pure waters of the Southern Atlantic Ocean off the southern Patagonian Coast of Argentina, they are responsibly harvested from one of the world's healthiest fisheries. Fishing is even prohibited during spawning months, ensuring the future of these waters. Wild Caught Argentinian Red Shrimp are big and beautiful with a unique natural tinted red hue. They are fresh, tender, sweet, and robust. People say that the texture and flavor are like lobster. Argentinian Red Shrimp are different when you cook them too – they are naturally red when raw and cook in half the time of more common shrimp. KEY FEATURES Our Argentinian Red Shrimp, frozen fresh on the day of catch, is a culinary marvel. They start off naturally red when raw, but watch them transform into a beautiful opaque color once fully cooked. This unique feature not only makes them easy to cook but also adds a touch of intrigue to your culinary experience. You'll know they're done and be ready to savor their amazing flavor! An incredible upgrade to any shrimp recipe, our Argentinian Red Shrimp is especially great with pasta, in fajitas, skewered and cooked on the grill, or in an Asian-inspired stir-fry. They are also the perfect choice for an unforgettable shrimp cocktail that you, your family, and your friends will love.Fresh, sweet taste like lobsterAn upgrade for any shrimp recipeLean and low fatBeautiful, natural red color PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS Despite their appearance, Argentinian Red Shrimp are RAW. Cook until shrimp are opaque and reach a minimum internal temperature of 140°F. Season as desired. DO NOT overcook (not for soups, stews or gumbos) as they become chewy when overcooked. From Frozen Stovetop, Steam: Add 2 inches of water to a saucepan and insert a steamer basket. Heat water to a boil using medium-high heat. Remove shrimp from bag, add to steamer basket, cover, and boil for 6-8 minutes. Stovetop, Sauté: Preheat a small amount of oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Remove frozen shrimp from packaging and carefully place in skillet. Cook covered for 3-4 minutes on each side or until the shrimp are cooked through. Grill: Preheat grill with lightly oiled grilling pan to medium. Remove frozen shrimp from packaging and add to pan. Cover pan and grill 4-5 minutes on each side or until the shrimp are cooked through.

I don't think I'd ever had Argentinian shrimp. The seller had provided a small sample with a summer order. They were great. So got some more for the holidays and a family gathering. Makes a perfect shrimp cocktail. Restaurant quality in taste and presentation.Important to follow the directions - these cook faster than black tiger shrimp. I think my husband settled on just under 4 minutes for a batch. He cooked just a couple to practice. Apparently something with the deep water nature of this type of shrimp. They are supposed to get chewy if cooked too long (e.g. don't use in gumbo or soup). We popped them in ice water to stop the cooking.Several of them had lost their tails in the bag (frozen). Not sure if that is typical.
